Remove Only What Needs to Be Removed

Use Ashless Anti-Wear Hydraulic Fluids
Hydraulic equipment depends on anti-wear fluids, but not every hydraulic oil has the same environmental profile.
Eastern Dredging uses ashless anti-wear hydraulic oils formulated without zinc and other metal-containing additive packages commonly found in conventional hydraulic fluids. By avoiding these additives—and using formulations selected for work in environmentally sensitive areas—we help reduce the potential aquatic toxicity associated with conventional zinc-containing fluids if an incidental leak or spill occurs.
These fluids still provide the lubrication and equipment protection required for professional dredging operations while offering a more environmentally responsible choice for work performed in and around the water.
No hydraulic fluid should be released into the environment. Our use of ashless fluids is an additional layer of protection—not a replacement for careful equipment maintenance, spill prevention, and responsible operating procedures.
Return Cleaner Water
Our clean-water return process is designed to separate dredged solids from process water before the water is returned to the work area.
Returning natural water helps reduce unnecessary sediment recirculation, supports cleaner and more controlled operations, and minimizes the volume of water that must be transported or managed away from the site. It is a more efficient process that helps us remove the unwanted material while treating the surrounding waterway with greater care.

Our sub-bottom profiler and site-planning process help us account for docks, boat lifts, seawalls, shorelines, buried objects, neighboring properties, vessel traffic, and other site-specific conditions before and during the work.

Our custom-made trucks include sealed inflow pipes for a clean, sanitary removal, and sealed water return to ensure no wasted water (and no waste is spilled on your property). We also use aluminum truck beds, which minimize corrosion so the returned water isn’t exposed to corroded metals.
